Who this is for

If your evenings sound like this,
you are in the right place.

Every August, thousands of Treasure Valley parents take the same first-day photo and quietly brace for what tends to come next.

None of that means you are failing, and none of it means your child is not trying. Sometimes the demands of a new school year simply outpace skills that are still developing. The good news is that there are practical steps you can take this week, and clear signs that tell you when it is worth looking deeper. That is exactly what this guide walks you through.

What is inside

Ten places school-year stress builds.
A strategy set for each one.

The guide is organized around the STRESS-LESS framework. Each letter is one pressure point, with steps you can put to work the same week you read it. You do not need to do all ten. Pick the one or two that sound most like your house and start there.

Grounded in published research

The strategies are practical, not theoretical. Where the guide makes a claim, it cites the study behind it.

37.5%

of American children ages 6 to 12 regularly get less sleep than recommended. The guide starts with sleep because it makes everything else easier.

~50%

greater odds of high social-emotional health for each additional regular family routine, in a study of more than 8,500 young children.

Local families

Treasure Valley parents,
in their own words.

The guide is free. It comes from a team that has spent years working with families right here in the valley.

Where this comes from

A guide is only as good as the team behind it.

Brain Balance is a non-medical, drug-free program that works on the developmental skills underneath attention, behavior, learning, and emotional regulation. The approach has been examined in peer-reviewed journals.

Psychiatry Research, 2023

Harvard Medical School and McLean Hospital

Across a fifteen-week at-home program, researchers recorded moderate to large improvement on parent-rated measures, including inattention, hyperactivity, and oppositional behavior. The authors describe the findings as preliminary and call for randomized controlled trials.

Teicher MH, et al. Psychiatry Res. 2023;319:114973. PubMed
Frontiers in Psychology, 2023

4,041 children and teens

After three months in the program, parents of participants ages 4 to 18 reported improvement across emotionality, reading and writing, behavior, academic engagement, motor coordination, and social communication.

Jackson R, Jordan JT. Front Psychol. 2023;14:1171936. PubMed
Humanities and Social Sciences Communications, 2022

81% showed improvement

Measured on the Brown Attention-Deficit Disorder Scales before and after three months of participation, the probability of showing improvement was 81 percent, and rose with the severity of the pre-program score.

Before you download

A few honest answers.

Is the guide really free?
Yes. There is no cost, no credit card, and nothing to buy. We wrote it because most of what families need in August is practical help, not a sales pitch.
Will someone call me after I download it?
A member of our Eagle team may reach out to see whether you have questions or want to talk through what you are seeing at home. If you would rather just read the guide, tell us and we will leave you to it. Either way, the guide is yours to keep.
What ages is it written for?
Kids and teens ages 5 to 17. Several sections break the strategies out by age group, since what works for a seven-year-old and what works for a fifteen-year-old are rarely the same thing.
Does my child need a diagnosis for this to be useful?
No. The guide is written for any family navigating a hard school year. Brain Balance itself does not require a label or a diagnosis either, and we do not diagnose.
Is Brain Balance a medical program?
No. Brain Balance is a non-medical, drug-free developmental program. We do not prescribe medication and we do not replace your child's healthcare providers. Many of the families we serve continue working with therapists, tutors, and school teams while they are with us.
What do you do with my information?
We use it to send you the guide and, if you are open to it, to follow up. We do not sell or rent it to anyone.
